LZ Hurricane is dedicated to the preservation of the history of the 82nd Field Artillery Regiment. Its purposes are:

• Identify and honor all previous and current veterans who have served or are serving in the Regiment.
• Promote the continued comradery of those who have served.
• Collect and preserve the history of the Regiment.

The name LZ Hurricane is taken from the LZ that was the home of the 1st Battalion’s Headquarters from 1968 through 1971 near Chu Lai Combat Base, Vietnam, and reflects the fact that this web site was first established for the 1st Battalion only.

This current web site encompasses the entire 82nd Regiment. In addition, it covers its original designation as the 24th Cavalry Regiment and the 82nd, 61st, and 62nd FA Battalions as the 1st, 2nd, and 3rd Battalions of the 82nd were designated in WWII and during the Korean Conflict.
