Welcome to LZHurricane

LZ Hurricane is dedicated to the preservation of the history of the 82nd Field Artillery Regiment. Its purposes are to identify and honor all previous and current veterans who have served or are serving in the regiment, to promote the continued comradery of those who have served, and to collect and preserve the history of the Regiment.

The name LZ Hurricane is taken from the LZ that was the home of the 1st Battalion’s Headquarters from 1968 through 1971 near Chu Lai Combat Base, Vietnam, and reflects the fact that this web site was first established for the 1st Battalion only.

This current web site encompasses the entire 82nd Regiment. In addition, it covers its original designation as the 24th Cavalry Regiment and the 82nd, 61st, and 62nd FA Battalions as the 1st, 2nd, and 3rd Battalions of the 82nd were designated in WWII and during the Korean Conflict.

Vietnam Firebase/LZ Data Base

Thanks to Don 'SGT Snuffy' Smith I now have available an extensive data base on Fire bases and LZ's for the entire South Vietnam area. Don is an ex-grunt who served with C Co. and Recon Platoon, 1/52 Infantry and has spent many hours in research in putting this data base together. We hope to have the data base up on our web site's History Section soon but in the meantime, copies of this data base can be emailed to any veteran and historian by emailing your web master. Thanks Don for a job well done! (6/21/08)
